2022 Art Fair Schedule Announced by Guild of Artists & Artisans

The Guild of Artists & Artisans (The Guild) is proud to announce its 2022 Fine Art Fair & Gutman Gallery Exhibition Schedules. For more than fifty years The Guild has been helping raise community awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the visual arts while maintaining a support network for artists. With a total of six Art Fairs, The Guild is delighted to continue to bring fun and educational events to five cities across Southeast Michigan and into Ohio. Each fair brings a unique group of artists and has various opportunities to purchase art, interact with artists and art activities, enjoy live entertainment and a selection of food vendors. The Royal Oak and Ann Arbor events also include beer and wine for patrons 21 and over. A complete list and description of each event are included below:

The Guild’s 2022 Fine Art Fair Schedule

Art Birmingham (May 7-8): Originally known as the Birmingham Fine Art Festival, Art Birmingham celebrates its 41st year in 2022. This highly regarded art fair takes place on the streets surrounding the lovely Shain Park, in downtown Birmingham (MI). Surrounded by convenient parking for fairgoers and within easy access to the many unique stores and fabulous restaurants of downtown Birmingham, the event will showcase jury-selected artists in an elegant and extraordinary setting. The event is free to attend and is a Mother's Day weekend tradition. Attracting approximately 80,000 fairgoers annually, this fair produced in association with the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC), benefits the “Art for All” vision of the BBAC.

Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair (July 21-23): The Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair is the largest of the three official partner fairs that comprise the award-winning and highly-respected Ann Arbor Art Fair. It is the only show run by and for the artists and is consistently ranked as one of the Top 100 Art Fairs in the Country. Roughly 400,000 people attend the event each year. The Summer Art Fair is located on Main Street in the heart of Ann Arbor as well as Liberty, State, and South University Streets, stretching from Ann Arbor’s charming downtown to the campus of the University of Michigan. The Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair is a juried fine art event featuring 400 exhibiting artist booths, live entertainment in partnership with one of the top music clubs in the world - The Ark, art activities with local internationally recognized artist, David Zinn, and delicious food.

Levis Commons Fine Art Fair (August 20-21): The 18th Annual Levis Commons Fine Art Fair features jury-selected artists and artisans including jewelry, ceramics, painting, glass, photography, fiber, and more. The perfect setting for an exceptional art fair, the Town Center at Levis Commons in Perrysburg, Ohio, is a unique open-air experience with sophisticated shopping, superb dining & entertainment. This outstanding event attracts approximately 35,000 attendees annually and in addition to spectacular artists includes kids' art activities, music, and more!

Common Ground’s Birmingham Street Art Fair (September 17-18): Common Ground’s Birmingham Street Art Fair celebrates 48 years in 2022 and was recently ranked #91 for the Fine Art and Design Category in Sunshine Artist Magazine. Approximately 150 jury-selected artists will be featured on the streets surrounding downtown Birmingham's Shain Park with more than 80,000 fairgoers attending annually. The fair includes a silent auction tent filled with beautiful artwork to bid on which directly benefits Common Ground. Common Ground is pleased to continue its presenting partnership with The Guild of Artists & Artisans. This collaboration helps Common Ground maintain its status as an important regional resource helping youths, adults, and families in crisis while ensuring the continuation of this highly-respected fine art fair.

A2 Artoberfest (October 8-9): The Guild of Artists & Artisans is proud to bring back A2 Artoberfest for a second year. A2 Artoberfest is a celebration of the arts and takes place along downtown Ann Arbor’s Fourth Avenue into the charming Kerrytown District. Surrounded by convenient parking for fairgoers and adjacent to many distinctive stores and exceptional restaurants of Kerrytown District and downtown Ann Arbor, this jury-selected show features approximately 100 jury-selected fine artists. A2 Artoberfest provides another opportunity for folks in and around Ann Arbor to enjoy Fine Art in a smaller setting than the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair while also enjoying the festive spirit of fall with live entertainment, food, and beverages. Royal Oak Market: Art Fair Edition (November 17-18): Royal Oak Market: Art Fair Edition, now in its 7th year, will take place indoors at the Royal Oak Farmers Market from 11 am–9 pm each day. This is a juried show featuring approximately 60 artists. In addition to wonderful Fine Art, roughly 6,500+ fairgoers enjoy adjacent parking and free admission in a fun and festive environment, making it the perfect event to purchase a gift of fine art for someone for the holidays or a great date night experience. The Royal Oak Farmers Market provides one of the premium market venues in Southeast Michigan and is conveniently located in the Civic Center at the corner of 11 Mile Rd and Troy Street in downtown Royal Oak in the heart of downtown Royal Oak, the surrounding community boasts some of the most eclectic shops and restaurants!

The Guild launched the Gutman Gallery, a fine art gallery and shop in February of 2020 right before the pandemic. The space has been an awesome place for The Guild to continue to connect its artists with the community during a time when large-scale events and all of their Fine Art Fairs were canceled due to Covid-19. The gallery, located at 118 N. Fourth Ave., continues to be a space to display the artwork of many exceptional artists with price points ranging from $5 to more than $2,000. Gutman Gallery is an inclusive fine art space open to all regardless of gender, sexual orientation, religion, racial group, etc. Not only is the gallery home to rotating art exhibitions and a gallery shop, but it also provides a creative space for the community to come together for workshops and events, both in-person and online. The 2022 Exhibition Schedule includes inclusive exhibitions with various topics, media, and opportunities to include artists of all types. Anything Goes [January 28 - March 5]: Second annual all-media exhibition

Gadgets + Gizmos [March 18 - April 30]: An exhibition exploring the influence that technology has on our lives

fluid. man. woman. and the space between. [May 13 - June 18]: An exhibition exploring what is inherently masculine or feminine, and whether or not it's even relevant.

Emerge [August 5 - September 10]: Second annual emerging artist exhibition

Folklore [September 23 - October 29]: An exhibition themed around superstitions, myth, old wives' tales, and urban legends

Holiday Artist Market [November 25 - December 23]: Third annual holiday artist market -- an opportunity exclusive to members of The Guild.
