LanzaTech is recognized for the very best innovation in the chemical industry

The leading publication for the global energy, petrochemical, and fertilizer industries, Independent Commodity Intelligence Services (ICIS), recognizes companies each year that are paving the way in product, process, and sustainability innovations.

This year, LanzaTech was awarded the Overall Winner and Best Process Innovation Winner, which recognizes LanzaTech’s leadership in leveraging biology and artificial intelligence to turn waste emissions into ethanol to make everything from jet fuel to laundry detergent, and fragrances to yoga pants, without using fossil fuels.

Companies were judged based on innovative projects that solve problems and provide solutions for companies, their customers, and society at large, benefiting the environment and progressing sustainability.

To recognize the breadth of innovation in the chemical sector, ICIS Innovation Awards are given in six categories. ICIS selects an overall winner each year, chosen from the five category winners, and LanzaTech was selected as the overall winner.  Last year’s recipient of this award was The Dow Chemical Company.

“We recognize the vital role the global energy, petrochemical, and fertilizer industries play in building a more climate-friendly world,” said Jennifer Holmgren, CEO of LanzaTech.  “Using biology and artificial intelligence, we can disrupt industries by using a fermentation process to turn waste emissions into a range of useful products such as plastics, synthetic fibers, and fuels. We then partner with other companies and help them transform their industry and rethink how to change their production process for a more sustainable future. I want to thank ICIS for honoring LanzaTech with this award, and I want to congratulate my colleagues at Dow, genomatica, and PolyStyreneLoop for their achievements.”
