Last week was another busy week for our clients. Heliox and Fermata Energy Forge Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), Smart Energy Management Partnership
Fermata Energy was founded to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) on the road, and the transition to renewable energy on the grid. Today the Charlottesville, VA company announced two key leadership changes that position it to Expand vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology to EV infrastructure. Scott Brierley, who as of last week led Nissan's V2X bidirectional charging initiative left and joined Fermata Energy this week as Director of Automotive and Strategic Partnership. Marty Weiner has joined Fermata's Advisory Board. Marty was the founding architect, and engineer of Pinterest and the first Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Reddit. Marty brings with him extensive leadership experience in scaling companies in emerging technologies and new industries.
Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) proved successful in powering New Lab's 5G Studio, in Brooklyn, using Verizon's 5G network. The results were announced today during a virtual demo day. Fermata Energy installed a bidirectional charger and used their proprietary V2X energy management software to perform V2X activities with a Nissan LEAF using 5G technology. With the charger connected to Newlab's building energy load, their testing compared peak shaving and load balancing operations of the electric grid between 4G and 5G, proving 5G's ability to react to changes in the grid based on real-time data and with very low latency.
Fermata Energy has been chosen as one of 11 companies in North America to participate in the inaugural Google for Startups Accelerator: Climate Change. Fermata Energy is a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology company that designs, supplies, and operates V2X technology. It turns electric vehicles (EV) into energy storage assets that combat climate change, increase resilience, and dramatically lower EV ownership cost.
Fermata Energy was selected to participate in the Power Transfer Cohort, powered by the Army Applications Laboratory (AAL) in collaboration with Alion Science and Technology. This program focuses on advancing solutions that will support remote access, rapid recharging, and scalable infrastructure to help the Army move to electric vehicles (EVs).

To reduce its carbon footprint and create a more resilient energy grid, the specialty tea market leader announced this morning, an initiative with FermataEnergy, that will use the power from an electric vehicle (a Nissan Leaf) to supply electricity to their Louisville, KY plant during times of peak energy use.
