Electric mobility company Revel, clean energy developer NineDot Energy, and leading vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology services provider, Fermata Energy, today announced a new partnership focused on testing V2G technology and operations. V2G has the potential to play a major role in supporting grid reliability by using the batteries in fleets of electric vehicles (EVs) to supply energy back to the grid during times of peak electricity demand. This technology could also be crucial to expanding the adoption of solar and wind by acting as a source of backup power when the sun goes down or when the wind stops blowing. Revel is the first electric mobility company to deploy V2G technology.

LANZAJET TECHNOLOGY TO BE DEPLOYED ACROSS THREE DIFFERENT PROJECTS IN THE UK TO MEET GROWING DEMAND FOR SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUELS
LanzaJet Alcohol-to-jet (ATJ) technology will be deployed as part of three projects in the United Kingdom (UK), focused on the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to reduce emissions from the aviation sector in the UK within the near term. · LanzaJet, along with British Airways and Nova Pangaea Technologies, was shortlisted for a grant from the UK's Department for Transport Green Fuels, Green Skies competition for Project Speedbird, to develop the first SAF production facility in the UK, converting wood waste to sustainable aviation fuel.
The UK's Plans To Decarbonise the Aviation Industry and Diversify its Economy
The United Kingdom recently announced a shortlist of companies that will receive funding as part of the Prime Minister’s Ten Point Plan, the Green Fuels, Green Skies competition to advance the production of SAF. Chicago-based LanzaTech, was among the companies, who will receive funding to pioneer new technologies, converting materials such as household waste, alcohol, carbon from the atmosphere, and sewage into SAF at commercial scales, offering emissions savings of more than 70% compared to the use of conventional fossil jet fuel.
Two Key Leadership Moves Positions Fermata Energy to Expand V2X Technology to EV Infrastructure
Fermata Energy was founded to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) on the road, and the transition to renewable energy on the grid. Today the Charlottesville, VA company announced two key leadership changes that position it to Expand vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology to EV infrastructure. Scott Brierley, who as of last week led Nissan's V2X bidirectional charging initiative left and joined Fermata Energy this week as Director of Automotive and Strategic Partnership. Marty Weiner has joined Fermata's Advisory Board. Marty was the founding architect, and engineer of Pinterest and the first Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Reddit. Marty brings with him extensive leadership experience in scaling companies in emerging technologies and new industries.
5G Feeds V2G using energy when you need it from parked EVs
Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) proved successful in powering New Lab's 5G Studio, in Brooklyn, using Verizon's 5G network. The results were announced today during a virtual demo day. Fermata Energy installed a bidirectional charger and used their proprietary V2X energy management software to perform V2X activities with a Nissan LEAF using 5G technology. With the charger connected to Newlab's building energy load, their testing compared peak shaving and load balancing operations of the electric grid between 4G and 5G, proving 5G's ability to react to changes in the grid based on real-time data and with very low latency.
